Moscow Mule: Fourth of July Edition!

July 10, 2014

I hope everyone had an amazing Fourth of July! I visited Newport and enjoyed lots of delicious food and drinks! We explored Corona del Mar and watched the fireworks from the rooftop. Needless to say it was memorable! One of my new favorite things I discovered was a “Moscow Mule”.  Can we talk about how delicious these are and why I’ve never heard of them before?! My goodness! We began experimenting with the recipe and where we were staying had a fresh herb garden so I had the bright idea of adding not only mint but basil as well. It was tasty! The fruit we had was perfectly ripe so we threw a few blueberries and watermelon in for show but it ended up making it taste even better. You really can’t go wrong with whatever you decide to add but here is the recipe we came up with:

Ingredients:
2 oz Premium Vodka
1 oz Ginger Beer
1 oz Lime Juice
Splash of Club Soda (preferably lime flavored)
blueberries
slices of water melon
mint
basil
Instructions:
1. add mint leaves and basil leaves into copper mug and begin to muddle
2. measure out vodka, lime juice and ginger beer then pour over muddled leaves.
3. add a splash of club soda
4. throw in whole blueberries (5 or 6) and slices of water melon (2/3)
5. top off with a few extra mint and basil leaves for decoration and added flavor.
6. Enjoy!
